How Music Can influence Anxiety in the Human Brain

ABOUT Me

 

I am a student at Marin Academy, an independent high school in San Rafael. Enrolled in a two year course called the Marin Academy Research Collaborative (MARC) I have the freedom to choose a topic in science to research with the goal to have a published paper by the end of my senior year. I am interested in investigating how music can be an alternative method to treating anxiety.

Why this topic

  This topic connects the study of the brain and music, which are two things that interest me greatly. The study of the brain, especially addressing mental illness, is very intriguing to me. I feel personally connected to mental health issues because as an adolescent, I am surrounded by loved ones who deal with mental health issues. It is my intention to gain a better understanding of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression by conducting this project.
